Alyosha's Cana Vision
Also known as Cana Of Galilee, Cana of Galilee, Cana in Galilee, a marriage in Cana of Galilee, the marriage of Cana in Galilee, the first miracle, new wine, the wine of new, great gladness.
During the Gospel reading over Zossima's coffin, Alyosha dreams the marriage at Cana expanding around him. The dead elder appears joyful at the feast and calls him to begin his work among the living. Alyosha wakes filled with rapture, goes out under the stars, kisses the earth, and rises with a new resolution to sojourn in the world.
