Euclidean Mind

Also known as Euclid's geometry, Euclidian earthly mind, Euclidian mind.

Euclidean Mind is Ivan's name for the limits of human reason. He tells Alyosha that if the human mind is made for three dimensions and Euclid's geometry, it cannot presume to solve questions about God or the world's design. The phrase lets Ivan claim humility before mystery while still refusing the world he cannot morally accept.
