Kartashov

Also known as the audacious boy, the boy who had once declared that he knew who had founded Troy, the boy who discovered about Troy, a voice, probably Kartashov's.

Kartashov is a quiet schoolboy in Ilusha's sickroom. He surprises the boys by daring to answer Kolya's long-guarded question about who founded Troy. His knowledge is real, but his courage leaves him painfully exposed to Kolya's superior manner.

Epilogue III. Ilusha’s Funeral. The Speech At The Stone

At Ilusha's stone, Kartashov is singled out gently in Alyosha's speech. Alyosha remembers his blush over Troy and insists that Kartashov's existence matters among the boys.
