Grimpen
Also known as the village of Grimpen, the hamlet of Grimpen.
The moorland village at the centre of Dr. Mortimer's country practice, listed in his medical record among the parishes he serves on Dartmoor.
Chapter III. The Problem
On Holmes's ordnance map it shows as a small clump of buildings near the centre of the district, the hamlet where Mortimer keeps his headquarters, close to Baskerville Hall.
Chapter V. Three Broken Threads
Its telegraph office is used to test whether Barrymore is really at the Hall and not in London.
Chapter VII. The Stapletons of Merripit House
Watson walks the four miles to it, past the inn and Mortimer's house, and questions the postmaster, who is also the village grocer, about the test telegram.
Chapter XIII. Fixing the Nets
From here Holmes sends his report to Princetown of the convict's death, so the household will be left untroubled.
