The Meryton Assembly
Also known as the Meryton assembly, the assembly at Meryton.
The neighbourhood's first public ball, held in the assembly rooms at Meryton, where the new tenants of Netherfield are looked over. Mr. Bingley is found amiable and dances every dance, while his friend Mr. Darcy is judged proud and disagreeable, and is overheard slighting one of the local young ladies as only tolerable.
Chapter XVIII
Its grander private echo is the ball at Netherfield, given on Mr. Bingley's own floor.
