The High Street house where Katerina Ivanovna has urgently asked Alyosha to come. Before he enters it, the house already makes him uneasy because he fears the proud, beautiful, imperious woman who waits there. It stands as the formal domestic opposite of the Karamazov house and of Grushenka's rumored rooms.
III-X. Both Together
Alyosha finds the house spacious, elegant, and crowded with signs of a meeting just interrupted. In the drawing-room he encounters Katerina and Grushenka together, and the visit becomes Katerina and Grushenka's meeting.
III-XI. Another Reputation Ruined
Dmitri thinks of waiting for Alyosha at Katerina's house before choosing instead to stand at the crossroads.
Epilogue I. Plans For Mitya’s Escape
After the trial, Katerina has Ivan brought to this same house in high fever and nurses him in the next room. Alyosha returns there to discuss Dmitri's possible escape and to ask her to visit Dmitri in prison.
