Plastunov's Inn
Also known as Plastunov’s, Plastunov's, the Plastunovs’ inn, the Plastunovs' inn, the blue room.
Plastunov's Inn is the brightly lit Mokroe inn where Grushenka, her former lover, and their companions have gathered when Dmitri arrives. The inn belongs to Trifon Borissovitch's world of horses, lodging, cards, drink, and profitable disorder. Its blue room and adjoining rooms become the stage for Dmitri's attempted farewell, the Polish quarrel, and a gathering revel.
VIII-VII. The First And Rightful Lover
The inn's rooms hold the card play, the side-room bargain with the Poles, and the confrontation that exposes the cheating pack.
VIII-VIII. Delirium
The inn becomes a crowded revel hall with chorus, musicians, peasants, wine, and then the place where officials enter and Dmitri's arrest at Mokroe begins.
IX-III. The Sufferings Of A Soul, The First Ordeal
After the arrest, the same rooms are rearranged into spaces for formal questioning, guarded separation, and official procedure.
IX-VIII. The Evidence Of The Witnesses. The Babe
Witnesses are examined there as the money story hardens against Dmitri and the house is treated as the scene of evidence.
IX-IX. They Carry Mitya Away
The inn's yard and gates frame Dmitri's departure under escort, with carts waiting and a crowd gathered around the end of the inquiry.
