Epilogue II. For A Moment The Lie Becomes Truth

Dmitri's sentence leaves him feverish in the hospital division of Dmitri's prison, guarded but allowed visits. He tells Alyosha that he is not strong enough for penal servitude and accepts escape while still condemning himself for it.

Epilogue III. Ilusha’s Funeral. The Speech At The Stone

At Ilusha's funeral, Kolya asks Alyosha whether Dmitri is innocent or guilty, and Alyosha answers that the valet killed Fyodor Pavlovitch. The verdict remains the public fact against Dmitri even as the boys begin to speak of him as an innocent victim.
